Filippo Ricci (* 1715 in Fermo ; † 1793 ibid) was an Italian Baroque painter .

biography

Filippo Ricci was born to Natale Ricci into a family of artists that worked in Fermo and the Marche for almost two centuries. Filippo, like his relatives, has been drawing from childhood. His father sent him to Donato Creti for training in Bologna . There he mainly devoted himself to copying his master's works on smaller formats. After a few years Ricci left Bologna and moved to Rome to the workshop of Corrado Giaquinto . In Rome, as before with Creti, he devoted himself to copying paintings. After Alessandro received the order to paint the gallery of the new Fermo Cathedral with theAssumption and patron saint of the city , Corrado prepared a sketch out of gratitude so that Filippo would not appear as lacking in ideas as he really was. In fact, it did the job, and it pleased most people. He then worked on various assignments in his hometown, always imitating Corrado Giaquinto into old age.

His children Lucia and Alessandro (1749–1829) carried on the family tradition.
