Blandow boulder
The boulder Blandow , located in the immediate shore area northeast of the village of Blandow bei Lohme , is the third largest known boulder on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Consisting of Precambrian Karlshamn - Granite existing boulder was on 1999 Geotop captured. Monzogranite comes from southeastern Sweden and is characterized by its characteristic reddish orthoclase .
The boulder weighing around 175 tons has a volume of 65 m³ and is 8 meters long, 5 meters wide and 3.1 meters high and is located on the block beach about 15 meters from the coast and 400 meters east of the mill bottom.
The boulders off the coast of Rügen were transported with the glaciers from Scandinavia to northern Germany during the last ice age in the Pleistocene .
