Finky is a drama directed by Dathaí Keane that premiered on July 11, 2019 at the Galway Film Fleadh.

action

To escape his past, musician and puppeteer Micí Finky Ó Foghlú steals an envelope full of cash and flees to Scotland with his childhood friend Tom Tom Ó Conghaile to start a new life. On her first night in Glasgow, Finky is robbed and is paralyzed from the waist down.

At the end of the day and with no perspective on life, he is recruited by Carnival Chaotica, an avant-garde circus troupe.

Directed by Dathaí Keane , who wrote the script together with Diarmuid de Faoite . After several series, it is Keane's directorial debut in a feature film.

The title role of Micí Finky Ó Foghlú was cast by Dara Devaney , who starred in An Klondike , a miniseries for Keane. Eoin Geoghegan plays his friend Tom Tom Ó Conghaile. Keanes co-writer de Faoite plays Aonghusa in the film Bang Bang Mac. Other roles were filled with Fionnuala Gygax and Ned Dennehy .

Filming took place in Ballinasloe in east County Galway in Ireland and in Glasgow, Scotland, and ended in mid-December 2018. Cathal Watters acted as cameraman . The equipment comes from Mark Kelly , the costume design from Triona Lillis .

The score was composed by Steve Lynch . For the recording he worked with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra & Choir.

As of July 11, 2019, the film was presented at the Galway Film Fleadh. At the end of October 2019 it was shown at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival .
