Finn Schiander, member of the Kongelig Norsk Seilforening , won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 in the 8-meter class according to the International Rule of 1919. In three races with the Lyn he always finished behind the second Norwegian boat Sildra and in front of the Belgian boat Antwerpia V in second place, which is why the Lyn finished the regatta in second place. In addition to skipper Jens Salvesen , the crew also included Nils Thomas , Lauritz Schmidt and Ralph Tschudi .

Schiander completed his studies in 1907 and worked in forestry in Oslo for two years. After working for a short time in a sporting goods store in Switzerland , he returned to Norway in 1911. There he worked in Hagen's Sports Shop in Oslo , where he eventually rose to head of department.
