The Firebag River is a right tributary of the Athabasca River in the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta .
The Firebag River has its origin in Firebag Lake in the far west of Saskatchewan. It flows predominantly west to Alberta. It later turns to the northwest and takes the Marguerite River on the right. It finally flows into the Athabasca River 65 km north of Fort MacKay . The Firebag River has a length of about 170 km. It drains an area of 5990 km². The mean discharge is 23 m³ / s.
