Fireflight is a Christian rock band formed in Eustis , Florida in 1999 . The band is under contract with Flicker Records, a subsidiary of Sony BMG .

history

Guitarists Justin and Glenn went to school together. Glenn came up with the idea of forming a band with his wife, Wendy and Justin . Dawn and Phee then joined the band. For their first show, the band didn't even have a name. Dawn suggested the name "Fireflight" - but the name Fireflight has no meaning, as the band had revealed in an interview.

After years of touring (around 140 shows per year), they released their debut album The Healing of Harms in 2006 , from which the two No. 1 singles You Decide and Waiting were released. Day of Fire's song You Decide with Josh Brown was the top request on TVU Music Television in August 2006 and the second most played song on Christian rock radio after September 1, 2006.

You were on the "The Scars Remain" tour with Disciple , Family Force 5 and Decyfer Down , among others . During this tour they wrote their second album Unbreakable and released the single of the same name from it. While writing this album, the band had an "emotional roller coaster ride". Wendy described how stressful and intense it was on her Myspace page:

“It felt like things were out of control. We had gone through a difficult year, like a band with a lot of emotional ups and downs. We basically lived in a van together when we wrote the new album, and that was an incredible pressure cooker for us. We all poured our hope, sadness, anger, dreams and fears into the music. "

Her third studio album, For Those Who Wait , was released on February 9, 2010. Music videos were also made for the singles For Those Who Wait and Desperate . The album debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Hot Christian chart - making it the highest chart position to date. Fireflight was nominated with this album for the "best rock or rap gospel album" at the 53rd Grammy Awards , but were defeated by the band Switchfoot with their album Hello Hurricane . In February 2011, drummer Phee Shorb left the band to become a Christian speaker; however, he was replaced by Adam McMillion.

The single Stay Close from the upcoming album Now was released on the Winter Jam Tour 2011, and a video was also made. On March 6, 2012, the current album Now was finally released; by July 15, it had been sold more than 40,000 times.
