The Firesteel River is a right tributary of the Seine River in the Thunder Bay District in the southwest of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The Firesteel River has its origin in Trap Lake . It initially flows in a south-south-west direction, turns briefly to the north-west, takes the North Firesteel River from the right and flows back to the south-south-west. It later takes up the East Firesteel River from the left. The Trans-Canada Highway ( Ontario Highway 17 ) crosses the river 16 kilometers west of Upsala . A little later the Hay River flows into the Firesteel River from the left. The Firesteel River now flows in a westerly direction and meets the Seine River 35 km west of Upsala.
The Firesteel River has a length of 55 km. It has a height difference of 58 m. Measured from the source of the Firesteel River, the Winnipeg River reaches a total length of 813 km.
