Fischerhaus (Flensburg-Fruerlund)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fisherman's house in Flensburg - Fruerlund from the 19th century is one of the cultural monuments at the Flensburg harbor .

background

The exact date of the construction of the simple plastered building is unknown. It is believed that it was built in the first half of the 19th century. As its name suggests, the fisherman's house was evidently inhabited by a fisherman , just like the captain's house (Ballastbrücke 16) in the neighborhood was apparently named after the occupation of its owner. Other houses that were formerly inhabited by fishermen are located in the Achter de Möhl district , which, according to its former residents, was also known as the Fischerhof. The Fruerlunder fisherman's house, which is set back from the Ballastbrücke street , was given the address “Ballastbrücke 11”. Initially, the single-storey building only had a gable roof in an eaves position . In 1932 a central dwarf with a triangular gable was added directly above the entrance to the house . The fisherman's house has recently been placed under monument protection for historical and urban planning reasons .
