Lists on the subject

The FN Five-Seven is a self-loading pistol produced by the Belgian company FN Herstal . The name picks up on the one hand the ammunition she fired in caliber 5.7 × 28 mm and on the other hand the name of the manufacturer FN ( F ive-seve N ) in its own spelling . The special ammunition is also used in the FN P90 .

technology

The pistol is a blowback with hebelübersetztem blowback , similar to the FAMAS - assault rifle . Due to the long slide, the pistol generates a low recoil. The weapon is mostly made of polymers to reduce weight and uses a trigger system in which the hammer is integrated in the handle and hidden by the slide - in contrast to the Glock models and the Walther P99 , where the Firing pin itself is cocked with a spring. The weapon has a slide catch and a Picatinny rail for accessories under the barrel , for example for laser pointers .

The 5.7 × 28 mm caliber is hardly better able to penetrate protective vests with a normal bullet than other common pistol and revolver calibers . Only the ammunition with a hard core developed for authorities is suitable. In Germany this is subject to the War Weapons Control Act and is prohibited for civilians. In the United States, this ammunition is only approved for use by authorities.

Versions

Five-Seven

The original model has a single action only trigger without a safety catch. The trigger guard is dimensioned so that the weapon can also be operated with gloves .

Five-Seven Tactical

Like the standard version, but with a single-action trigger and safety device.

Five-Seven IOM

The IOM (Individual Officer's Model) version was presented to the public in 2004. Compared to the original version, the accessory rail and the adjustable sights have been changed. A safety device prevents the shot from being released without the magazine inserted .

Five-Seven USG

The USG (United States Government) model derived from the IOM with a modified magazine release lever, adjustable sights and new grip was introduced in 2005 as a replacement for the IOM version.

Five-Seven MK2

The Five-seveN MK2 was introduced in 2013 and is now the standard version of the Five-seveN. The look of the MK2 differs slightly from its predecessor, the polymer slide is now also ribbed on the front of the barrel and the controls are black. Technical changes consist in the fact that the metal slide is made from one piece and the magazine is divided into a left and right side by a small polymer pyramid, which should make the weapon even more reliable. The MK2 is slightly wider than the USG models, which is why it usually does not fit in their polymer holsters .

Legal

Due to its caliber, this weapon has not been allowed in private ownership in Germany (Section 2, Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Annex 2, Section 1, No. 1.2.5 WaffG ) since April 1, 2008.
