Flörsheimer Warte
The Flörsheimer Warte is a watch tower in the Wicker district of Flörsheim am Main in the Main-Taunus district in Hesse .
He belonged to the former Kasteler Landwehr , which Berthold von Henneberg had built as Archbishop of Mainz in the 15th century to protect the possessions on the right bank of the Rhine . This also included the Mosbacher Warte near Mosbach , the Erbenheimer Warte near Erbenheim and the Hochheimer Warte near Hochheim am Main . After secularization (1803), the Landwehr lost its importance, as the villages now belonged to the northern area of the House of Nassau and there was no longer any border to defend here. The Flörsheimer Warte fell into ruin.
In 1996, the company for the recultivation of the Weilbach gravel quarry (GRKW) presented a plan to build a new tower next to the remaining foundations. The replica based on plans by Franz-Josef Hamm was based on the shape of the destroyed building known from drawings. It is a round tower with a pointed stone roof with a restaurant.
