Fladnitztal cycle path

The Fladnitztal-Radweg is a circular route with a length of approx. 30 km in the central Lower Austria area between Traisental and Dunkelsteinerwald and leads through the communities of Obritzberg-Rust , Statzendorf , Wölbling and Karlstetten and was opened on May 4, 2002 after a year of preparation.

Routing

Coming from St. Pölten , the cycle path begins in Hain (Gothic parish church of Kleinhain - around 1350; with the Immaculata ), 4 km north of the Lower Austrian capital. Along the Fladnitzbach it leads over the wine villages Zagging - Greiling - Fugging to Statzendorf (railway connection Krems - St.Pölten) with parish church (St. Markus) - industrial area Hohe Brücke - crossing the Fladnitz (lowest point of the cycle path ( altitude 240 m)) - Unterwölbling - on the so-called Flötzersteig (an old path that the returning Danube rafts used to shorten the route) to Oberwölbling. It continues through the Heurigen villages Ambach - Ratzersdorf - uphill to Schweinern - Brunndoppelhof - Neustift (eco houses) - Hofstetten (highest point of the cycle path (412 m above sea level)) - Rosenthal riding center - Karlstetten - Untermamau - Flinsdorf - Großhain.

The route is manageable in one afternoon for all cyclists and children, even if they are not particularly physically fit, with a leisurely ride and a suitable bike. Most of the way is paved, the rest is gravel. The approximately 30 km long cycle path does not require any special local knowledge.
