Flama is a Portuguese company. Today it is the only household appliance manufacturer wholly Portuguese-owned.

history

The company was founded in 1979 in northern Portugal by António Alves in the town of Cesar, in the Oliveira de Azeméis district, under the name A. Alves Lda. It initially produced aluminum cookware and dinnerware. The product range was expanded to include small household appliances, and in 1988 the company also began exporting both its own products and goods produced for other manufacturers. In 1996 the company was converted into a stock corporation ( SA ) and was given the current name Flama - Fábrica de Louça e Eletrodomésticos, SA (German: Dish and household appliance factory Flama). The product range has been expanded increasingly since then. In 2000 the company was certified according to ISO 9001 .
