Flegma was a Swedish crossover band from Malmö that was formed in 1987 and split up in 1995.

history

The band was founded in 1987 and consisted of the singer Rother, the guitarist Ola Püschel, the bassist Richard Lion and the drummer Martin Brorsson. In the following years several demos were released. In 1990 the line-up of the band changed significantly, so that only Brorsson and Lion remained. After both had rehearsed with several members, the guitarist Martin Olsson and the singer Kalle Metz joined the cast in 1991. The debut album Blind Acceptance followed in 1992 , after which obscurity guitarist Jörgen Lindhe joined the band. This was followed by the second album Flesh to Dust in 1994 , which included a cover version of the Kiss song I Stole Your Love . The group also contributed the cover Leave Me in Hell for the Venom tribute album Promoters of the Third World War by Primitive Art Records and The Thing Tha Should Not Be for the Metallica tribute album Metal Militia by Black Sun Records . The band went on tour through Italy before breaking up in 1995. In the same year the guitarist Olsson had previously left the band. He was replaced by Orvar, after which the group recorded a demo and disbanded three months later. After the dissolution, some members formed the bands Tenebre and Redrvum. Singer Kalle Metz was also a member of the concert agency The Agency Group .

style

According to Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic , the band initially played hardcore punk influenced by discharge . On Blind Acceptance , the band sounds similar to Motörhead and also a bit like the death metal band Entombed . On Flesh to Dust the band turned to Gothic Metal. According to Daniel Ekeroth in his book Swedish Death , the band soon moved away from the initial hardcore punk and played a crossover of hardcore punk and thrash metal. After that she turned to Gothic Metal. According to classicthrash.com, the band played blind acceptance music that would sound like Motörhead played Thrash Metal in their early days. However, since most of the songs would be very similar, the music would be very monotonous in the long run.
