Flemming Davanger (born April 1, 1963 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian curler and Olympic champion .

Life

1980 and 1981 Davanger took part in the Junior World Championships, but could not qualify for the semifinals. After participating in the 1981 and 1982 European Championships, he returned to the junior category and won the silver medal at the 1983 World Junior Championship in Medicine Hat .

At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he finished second after losing to Urs Dick's Swiss team in the final . The silver medal won does not have any official status, as curling was still a demonstration sport at that time .

Davanger took part in the World Championships in 1986, 1990, 1993, 1994, 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2005, but came away empty-handed. He won the bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships in Lausanne . A year later, at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , the Norwegian team beat the favorite Canadians in the final with Skip Kevin Martin and Davanger was Olympic champion.

This was followed by a second place at the 2002 World Cup in Bismarck , a third place at the 2003 World Cup in Winnipeg and a third place at the 2004 European Championship in Sofia . At the EM 2005 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , the Norwegians defeated the Swedish team with Skip Peter Lindholm in the final and Davanger became European champion.

In 2006 Davanger took part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . The team took fifth place.
