Career

Văetuş's career began in 1975 with Victoria Călan not far from his hometown of Hunedoara, and one year later he moved to league rivals Mureşul Deva . At the beginning of 1977, he made the jump to Corvinul Hunedoara in the Divizia A . There he developed alongside Mircea Lucescu to become a regular in the storm, but had to relegate his team to Divizia B at the end of the 1978/79 season . There he secured his club direct resurgence with 15 goals. In the upper house, the team of coach Lucescu started and finished the 1980/81 season in sixth place. In the winter break of 1981/82 he left the club to Dinamo Bucharest , where he was able to win the double from championship and cup success at the end of the season. With the championship in 1983 he was able to defend a title.

In the summer of 1983 Văetuș returned to Corvinul. With the club, he could not build on earlier successes and completed the following seasons in midfield of Divizia A. In 1988 he ended his career. In the 1990/91 season he returned for a season at the second division Metalurgistul Cugir .

National team

Văetuș played seven games for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on May 1, 1982 under his former club coach Mircea Lucescu in the European Championship qualifier against Cyprus , when he was on the starting line-up and was able to shoot his team with his only international goal in the lead. After two missions against Japan in July 1982, he was not considered for almost a year. In the second half of 1983 he was only used in friendly matches. On April 11, 1984, he was used against Israel for the last time.
