Florence Gaub

Florence Gaub (* around 1977) is a German-French researcher in the field of military sociology , security policy and intercultural communication in the Arab world . During her studies ( political science , French and modern history ) at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , which she completed with a Magistra (MA), she spent a semester abroad at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris) in Paris and completed her studies Internships in the media, among others at ZDF in Paris, New York and the news agency ddp . Her dissertation at the Humboldt University in Berlin deals with the Lebanese army.

In addition to observing post-conflict developments in Iraq, Lebanon and Libya, she investigates Arab armed forces, conflict structures and the geopolitical significance of the Arab region.

Gaub was on the press team at the Youth Parliament for Europe 2001 (November 26th to 28th), which took place in the German Bundestag , among others . She is a lecturer at the Historical Institute of the University of Potsdam . From January 2009 to May 2013 she was at the NATO Defense College , and from May 2013 to February 2018 Gaub was Senior Analyst at the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris (EUISS). Gaub has been Deputy Director at EUISS since March.
