Florian Heyerick (born August 31, 1958 in Gent ) is a Belgian flutist , harpsichord player , conductor and music producer.

Life

Heyerick studied at the Conservatories of Brussels and Gent, as well as at the Lemmensinstitut in Leuven, where he graduated in recorder, flute and chamber music. He studied musicology at the University of Ghent .

Due to his wide-ranging education and many years of experience in the fields of choral and instrumental music, as a recording manager for music recordings, and as a conductor and teacher, he is active in many areas in the music world at a high level.

From 1986 to 1990 he was a lecturer in chamber music, singing and chamber music on historical instruments at the Antwerp Conservatory. Since 1990 he has been Professor of Choir, Choir Conducting, Interpretation of Early Music, Opera History and Music Sociology at the Institute for Music attached to Ghent University. He is the founder of the CD label "Vox Temporis", with which he recorded more than 50 productions. As artistic director he was responsible for around 100 LP and around 500 CD recordings for various labels.

In recent years he has increasingly appeared as a specialist on the German baroque composer Christoph Graupner . This is proven by numerous articles and lectures.

Florian Heyerick has been the founder and musical director of the vocal ensemble Vocaal Ensemble Ex Tempore since 1989 . He is a regular guest conductor of internationally known baroque orchestras, such as the Collegium Instrumentale Brugense , the Baroque orchestra Le Mercure Galant, the Flemish Radio Choir, the Philharmonie Antwerp, the Musica Antiqua Cologne , the Baroque orchestra of the French Community of Belgium Les Agrémens , the Concerto Amsterdam , the Komische Oper Berlin , the Nederlandse Bachvereniging and the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim, of which he was chief conductor from 2002 to 2004.

In 2005 he founded the Mannheim court orchestra with violinist John Holloway and a music agent , which in the summer of 2007 was heard for the first time in 300 years in its original line-up of 40 musicians.

As an award for his work, he received the culture award of his native city of Ghent in 2000.
