Carsten Recksik

Carsten Recksik (* 1973 in Kronach ) is a freelance German artist and art mediator . He lives and works in London.

Education

After training as a stonemason and stone sculptor, he studied from 2001 to 2002 in the class "Art and Public Space" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg with JP Hölzinger and Georg Winter . In 2003 he switched to Olaf Metzel's class at the Munich Art Academy , where he graduated in 2007 as a master class student. In this context he received the debutant award from the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts.

activity

Carsten Recksik initiated and organized a number of different art projects a. a. the non-commercial exhibition space Privatgalerie in Munich (with Inga Charlotte Taubert, 2008–2009), the exhibition New German Art in the German Embassy in London (2010) and "Olaf Breuning - Home" at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London (2013) . As part of the exhibition organization of various commercial galleries and public institutions, he realized projects with well-known artists such as Paul McCarthy , Andreas Gursky , Gilbert & George , Ellsworth Kelly , Christoph Büchel and Pierre Huyghe .
