The Florida softshell turtle ( Apalone ferox , Syn . : Trionyx ferox ), also known as the wild three -clawed turtle or bitter turtle , occurs in the US in the states of South Carolina , Georgia , Florida and Alabama . Their habitat is slowly flowing rivers with a muddy bottom. You also go in brackish water .
features
Their flat, oval back armor is brownish on top, the belly is whitish. There are some warts on the front edge. The head ends in a small, trunk-shaped nose. The lips are fleshy. A Y-shaped, yellow marking extends from the eyes to the tip of the nose and the long neck and the sides of the head are drawn with yellow lines, but these fade with age. The limbs have three sharp claws. The animals reach a size of 45 centimeters.
