career

Born in the small town of Västervik, Lagerkrantz moved with his family to Stockholm 's Kungsholmen district as a child . There he started playing football at Kronobergs IK . He then moved to Enskede IK .

In 1936 AIK became aware of the young striker and signed Lagerkantz. However, it was not until August 1, 1937, before he could celebrate his debut in the Allsvenskan in the 3-1 win over GAIS in the home Råsundastadion . In the first two games still used as a winger, he succeeded in his third game of the season, in which he was set up as a center forward, his first league goal. On May 1, 1938 he got three goals in one game in the 4-5 defeat against IK Brage in Domnarvsvallen , so that at the end of the season he was able to have ten goals in 13 season appearances. He was similarly successful in the following season and again managed ten goals this season. After two years and 33 games in the Swedish House of Lords, he returned to his hometown club Enskede IK . The Konsum company , where Lagerkrantz was employed, wanted the club from Division 3 Östsvenska to form a large team and therefore lured some talented players with jobs. However, the promotion from third division to Division 2 was only just missed several times.

Although Lagerkrantz only played two years in the Allsvenskan , he was twice in the Swedish national team. On June 15, 1938, he made his debut in the national team at home in Råsundastadion when the Finnish national team was defeated 2-0. He scored the second goal of the day. Curious: the international match took place in France during the 1938 World Cup , when the Swedish national team failed in the semi-finals on the following day against the Hungarian national team . His second international match was against the Finnish national team in the same year. He contributed two more goals to the 4-2 success.

Lagerkrantz's grave can be found on Skogskyrkogården in Stockholm's Enskede-Årsta-Vantör district .
