The Hanamaki Airport ( Jap. 花巻空港 , Hanamaki Kuko ) is a regional airport in the Japanese city of Hanamaki . It is located about 6 kilometers northeast of the city center in Iwate Prefecture . Hanamaki Airport is a 3rd class airport under Japanese law . In addition to national scheduled connections to Nagoya , Osaka and Sapporo with Japan Airlines, there are irregular charter flights to Taiwan .

The airport has various navigation aids. The rotating radio beacon (VOR) transmits on frequency : 112.8  MHz with the identification: HPE . A distance measuring equipment (DME) is present. The location denial is 8 ° west. (Status: 2006)

According to ASN , an accident is known near the airport.

  • On April 18, 1993, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 -41, coming from Nagoya Airport , crashed on the runway. No occupants were killed, but the aircraft was irreparably destroyed. A landing by the inexperienced copilot is mentioned as a possible cause of the accident.
