The airport Jiuzhai Huanglong , also Jiuzhaigou Airport ( Chinese  九寨溝機場 ) and Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is a regional airport in the province of Sichuan of China and was opened in the year of 2003. Located at an altitude of 3,448 meters, it is the third highest airport in China after Qamdo and Lhasa airports .

More than a million passengers were handled in 2005, so that the second stage of expansion of the airport was pushed ahead in June 2006 and completed in 2007. In 2011, the third expansion stage was completed and thus expanded to an annual capacity of a maximum of 3 million passengers. The construction of the airport enables the tourist development of the nearby nature reserves Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong , which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The airport is regularly served by Air China , China Eastern Airlines , China Southern Airlines and Sichuan Airlines . In addition, there are seasonal charter flights from Chengdu Airlines , Shenzhen Airlines , Hainan Airlines and other Chinese airlines.

Transport links

Because of the isolated location of the airfield, there is no public transport. Shuttle mini-buses and taxis wait for passengers when the aircraft arrives at the terminal and then drive to the national parks.
