The Kandahar Airport ( IATA : KDH , ICAO : OAKN ) is a military and of civilian airport in the city of Kandahar in Afghanistan . It is located 16.7 km southeast of Kandahar and 69 km from the Pakistani border.

In December 2015, the Taliban attacked the airport; dozens of people died. On August 1, 2021, after the end of the Resolute Support mission , the airport was hit by three Taliban rockets.

The US armed forces used the military part of the airport as a base, which was then taken over by the Afghan Air Force . The Afghan National Police is responsible for security at the airport's civil terminal.
