The Sakon Nakhon Airport ( Thai : ท่าอากาศยาน สกลนคร ; IATA code : SNO, ICAO code : VTUI) is a regional airport and air base in the province of Sakon Nakhon in northeastern Thailand , the Isan .

It is located about five kilometers northwest of Sakon Nakhon , in the immediate vicinity of Lake Nong Han . The airport has an asphalt runway with a length of 2,600 meters and a width of 45 meters. The main part is used by the Royal Thai Air Force .

Scheduled traffic has grown rapidly in importance recently. Between 2011 and 2015 the number of passengers increased tenfold to over 425,000. Sakon Nakhon will be served by two Thai airlines in spring 2019 ( Thai Air Asia and Nok Air ), which only offer connections with Bangkok-Don Mueang .
