The airport Sfax – Thyna (English: Sfax – Thyna International Airport , French: Aéroport International de Sfax – Thyna , Arabic مطار صفاقس الدولي) serves the Tunisian Sfax and the surrounding Sahel .

The airport is located six kilometers southwest of Sfax, opened in 1980 and covers an area of 327 hectares in the area of the municipality of Thyna . It is the seat and main hub of the Tunisian airline Syphax Airlines .

Like the vast majority of Tunisian airports, the airport is managed by the Tunisian Civil Aviation & Airports Authority . It is also the military airfield of the Tunisian Air Force .

The airport has undergone several expansions and improvements, the most important of which were the reconstruction of the terminal in 1988, the reinforcement and extension of the runway in 1989, the construction of a cargo terminal for cargo in 1996, the commissioning of new infrastructures ( hangars , Taxiways, parking spaces for aircraft, etc.) and the construction of a new control tower and equipment room. 74,000 passengers were handled at the airport in 2006 and 185,803 passengers in 2012.

The construction of a further terminal with 8000 m², consisting of three buildings, began on November 8, 2005 and was completed on December 22, 2007 with the inauguration. At a total cost of sixteen million dinars, the airport now has a capacity of 500,000 passengers per year.
