The Tapa Airport ( Estonian Tapa lennuväli ) is located 3 km from the Estonian town of Tapa (German taps ) away.

During the Cold War , Tapa was a Soviet military airfield. It was the home base of the 656th interceptor unit of the Soviet Air Force . MiG-23 aircraft were stationed on it.
