The Carpi airport ( it .: Aeroporto di Carpi “Danilo Ascari” ) is located in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna , around seven kilometers north of the city of Carpi and around 20 kilometers north of Modena .

Infrastructure and use

The airfield, which is just under two kilometers east of the Brenner motorway near the towns of Budrione and Fossoli, has an 850 meter long, asphalt runway (02/20). To the northwest of threshold 20 there is an asphalt apron with a heliport and two hangars. The airfield is primarily used for general aviation . It is operated by the local aero club, which also has a flight school here.

Others

  • The Carpi airfield is best known for the Carpi Air Festival , an air show that is not always held regularly (previously the Carpi Air Show ). At the same time, there is usually a classic car meeting on site, at which acceleration races are also carried out on the slopes.
  • There are plans to extend the runway up to 1500 meters. Currently (2013) no landing fees are charged.
  • Although the city of Modena is only 20 kilometers away, it has its own airport . The nearest commercial airports are Parma in the west, Bologna in the southeast and Verona in the north.
  • Carpi should not be confused with Capri .
