Air ambulance

The Lienz / Nikolsdorf flight operations center was founded under the name Martin 6 by the Federal Ministry of the Interior in October 1986. The main tasks of this base were police duties and air rescue. On January 1, 2001, the Christophorus Air Rescue Association of the ÖAMTC took over the base and thus the emergency helicopter service in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia through an assistance contract with the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The police duties of Martin 6 were taken over by the Klagenfurt flight operations center. In summer 2003 the base was completely rebuilt.
