Former airfields

The Eisenstadt - Trausdorf airfield no longer exists. It was finally closed in 1994 after years of litigation. Thus, Eisenstadt (next to Bregenz and St. Pölten) is a provincial capital in Austria that does not have an airport. In contrast to Bregenz , which never had its own airfield, Eisenstadt did have an airfield.

The airport Aspern no longer exists. It was closed on April 30, 1977 because air traffic in Aspern was too close to the approach lane of the newly constructed second runway 16/34 at Schwechat Airport - opened on October 6, 1977. Now there is a car factory and the heliport of the air rescue association Christophorus with the ICAO identification LOAJ . Vienna is the only federal state in Austria that does not have its own airport. Vienna International Airport (LOWW) is located in the federal state of Lower Austria.

For other heliports used by air rescue, see Air Rescue in Austria .
