Free space
As Freigespärre is called a gable side released before the gable wall rafter pair . The free rafter is often held at the foot by an immovable triangular bond lying on the protruding frame and rests in the upper area on protruding structural timber. In the Rhineland one speaks of floating gables and in Switzerland of flying rafters .
