Schlei / Trave river basin district
The Schlei / Trave river basin district (FGE Schlei / Trave) combines the surface water bodies and coastal waters in the eastern part of Schleswig-Holstein into one river basin district as part of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive .
Description of the river basin district
The Schlei / Trave river basin district comprises the waters in the eastern part of Schleswig-Holstein from the German-Danish border, with the Krusau on the Danish side, over the eastern part of Schleswig-Holstein to the area of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the catchment area of the Stepenitz . The Schlei, which partly gave the FGE its name, is not a flowing water, but a glacial channel formed during the Ice Age . The responsible authority is the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Agriculture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel .
