Fly (in detail: Fly Meubles et décoration , German: Fly furniture and decoration ) is a furniture chain of the company GIE - GROUPE RAPP (German: Rapp Group) based in Kingersheim , France .
The beginnings of the Fly brand go back to 1928, when Joseph Rapp founded an art-joinery in a small village in the south of Alsace. In 1959, Paul and Pierre Rapp launch the first furniture store under the name RAPP - SUMATRA in Kingersheim (Alsace). 10 years later they found the MOBILIER EUROPEEN SA group.
The group now includes three companies, all from the furniture and decoration sector: Atlas, Crozatier and Fly. In 1978 Fly was founded as a new part of the Rapp Group Mobilier European SA in Kingersheim. An essential part of the company concept is the self-assembly of the furniture by the customers.
After 10 years there were almost 80 Fly branches, which grew to 130 by 1995. The largest now have an area between 4800 m² and 6000 m². At the end of the 1990s, Fly expanded abroad. In Switzerland, took Manor group that franchising . Since 2012, the Swiss Fly branches have belonged to the French parent company again. Together with the two branches in northern Spain, Fly has 137 locations in three European markets to date.
The Fly (Switzerland) AG was a subsidiary of the French parent company and is based in Egerkingen . In Switzerland, the company operates a total of 19 branches that generated sales of CHF 106.4 million in 2012. In February 2014 these branches were sold to Conforama and some of them are to be converted to other brands.
In addition to furniture for all living areas, including office and garden furniture, the range also includes home accessories for everything to do with living, eating, sleeping, bathing, lighting and working.
