Folker Bohnet

Folker Bohnet (* 7. August 1937 in Berlin , † 6. October 2020 in Hamburg ) was a German actor , theater director and playwright .

Career

After four semesters, Bohnet gave up studying law , which he had initially started in Cologne , in favor of a visit to the UFA junior studio in Berlin. While still at drama school, he made three films in quick succession, including the world hit " Die Brücke " in 1959 (director: Bernhard Wicki ). This was followed by permanent engagements and guest performances at renowned theaters, including the Thalia-Theater Hamburg, Renaissance Theater Berlin, Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, Ernst-Deutsch-Theater Hamburg, Residenztheater Munich, Theater in der Josefstadt Vienna, the Städtische Bühnen Köln , theFreie Volksbühne Berlin , the Hamburger Kammerspiele , and at almost all known comedy houses in Germany as well as at festivals (e.g. Bad Hersfeld Festival ) and touring productions. In addition to his work as an actor, Folker Bohnet regularly directed the theater. Folker Bohnet has produced numerous comedies since 1977, which are performed throughout the German-speaking region and beyond.

He was married to the actress Ann-Monika Pleitgen , and the marriage produced a son, the physicist and writer Ilja Bohnet . He has another son, the actor Markus Lorenz-Bohnet. In 2001 Folker Bohnet officially entered into a registered civil partnership with Alexander Alexy, dentist and partner in a large number of his plays, with whom he had been in a relationship since the 1980s.
