The Food City 250 is one of two races held annually in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol , Tennessee . The other race is the Scotts Turf Builder 300 . The Food City 250 was held for the first time in 1982, so it has been represented in the Busch Series from the start, but at that time it was still under the name "Pet Diary 150" and as a 150 lap race. In 1984 it was extended to 200 laps and in 1990 to 250 laps, the racing distance that can still be driven today. The number in the name of the race stands for the number of laps in this case.
