The Football Mountain is a 830 m high mountain on the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises from the ridge between Edisto Inlet and the Tucker Glacier . The Football rock formation rises on its north side .
The mountain was the site of a surveying station by scientists from 1957 to 1958 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition campaign . They named it after the rock formation, which was descriptively named because of its shape reminiscent of a football .
