Football for Friendship

Football for Friendship ( Russian Футбол для дружбы ) is an annual international social project for children organized by the company Gazprom . The aim of the program is to teach children and young people the fundamental values ​​that football stands for.

As part of the program, football players aged 12 and over from different countries around the world take part in the annual international children's forum, as well as the international street football tournament and International Day of Football and Friendship. The project was honored in 2016 by the IABC (International Association for Business Communication) in the category of corporate social responsibility with the Gold Quill Award. The global operator of the program is the AGT Communications Group (Russia).

history

Football for Friendship 2013

On May 25, 2013, the first International Children's Forum Football for Friendship took place in London. 670 children from eight countries took part: Bulgaria, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia [6]. Russia was represented by eleven football teams from eleven Russian cities, the country that will host the FIFA World Cup in 2018. The junior teams from the clubs Zenit, Chelsea, Schalke 04, Crvena Zvezda, winners of the Gazprom Children's Sports Day and winners of the Fakel Festival also took part in the forum.

During the forum, the children talked to their playmates from other countries and well-known football players and they attended the 2012/2013 Champions League final at Wembley Stadium. The outcome of the forum was an open letter in which the children formulated the eight values ​​of the program: friendship, equality, justice, health, peace, loyalty, success and traditions. This letter was later sent to the management of UEFA, FIFA and IOC. In September 2013, during a meeting with Vladimir Putin and Vitalij Mutko, Sepp Blatter confirmed receipt of the letter and declared that he wanted to support football for friendship.

Football for Friendship 2014

The second season of Football for Friendship took place in Lisbon from May 23-25, 2014 with the participation of 450 teenagers from 16 countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, France and Croatia. The young football players took part in the international football for friendship forum, a street football tournament, and attended the 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League final.

The winner of the 2014 international street football tournament was the Benfica (Portugal) junior team. The result of the second season of the program was the election of the chairman of the Football for Friendship movement. It is Felipe Suarez from Portugal. In June 2014, as chairman of the movement, he attended the ninth international youth football tournament in memory of Yuri Andreyevich Morozov.

Football for Friendship 2015

The third forum with 24 youth teams from 24 countries took place from June 4th to 7th in Berlin. At the same time, the Nine Values ​​Cup was awarded for social initiatives by professional clubs of the UEFA Champions League.

The third season of the international social program Football for Friendship took place in June 2015 in Berlin. Children's soccer teams from Japan, China and Kazakhstan took part in the program for the first time. A total of 24 football teams from 24 countries were represented in the third season. The winner of the 2015 international street football tournament was the Rapid (Austria) junior team.

Football for Friendship 2016

The start of the international social program for children Football for Friendship 2016 took place as part of the online press conference Hangout, which took place on March 24th in Munich in the presence of the global ambassador Franz Beckenbauer.

In the fourth season of the program, eight new junior teams from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Argentina, Brazil, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Syria were represented for the first time, so that the number of participating countries reached 32.

Voting for the Nine Values ​​Cup began on April 5, 2016. The cup was won by the Bayern (Munich) soccer club.

The fourth international children's forum Football for Friendship and the last game of the international children's tournament for street football took place in Milan from May 27th to 28th, 2016. The winner of the tournament was the Maribor team from Slovenia. More than 200 journalists from the world's leading media reported on the events of the forum and the international children's press center, which was represented by young journalists from the participating countries.

In the fourth season of Football for Friendship, young footballers from the Syrian club Al-Wahda took part for the first time. The inclusion of the Syrian team in the program and the visit of Syrian children to the events in Milan was an important step in overcoming the humanitarian isolation of the country. With the support of the Syrian Football Association, the Arab management of the sports department of the international television channel Russia Today shot the documentary "Three Days Without War", which is about the children participating in the project. On September 14, 2016, over 7,000 people attended the premiere of the film in Damascus. St. Petersburg (Russia) was chosen as the venue for the fifth season of the international social project for children Football for Friendship from June 26th to July 3rd.

Football for Friendship 2017

In 2017, the number of participating countries increased from 32 to 64. For the first time, children from Mexico and the USA take part in “Football for Friendship”. Thus, the project has brought together young football players from four continents - Africa, Eurasia, North and South America.

A new concept was introduced for the fifth season of the program: in 2017, 1 young football player will be selected to represent his country. The children will be put together into eight international teams - friendship teams, boys and girls, including the physically challenged.

At the public draw, the composition of the elected teams and the playing positions of the representatives of the participating countries were determined. The draw took place during an internet conference. The following young coaches are in charge of the eight friendship teams: Rene Lampert (Slovenia), Stefan Maksimovic (Serbia), Brandon Shabani (Great Britain), Charlie Sui (China), Anatoly Chentuloev (Russia), Bogdan Krolevetsky (Russia), Anton Ivanov (Russia), Emme Henschen (Netherlands). The representative of the international press center “Football for Friendship” Lilia Matsumoto (Japan) also took part in the draw.

The International Children's Forum “Football for Friendship” 2017 was attended by Viktor Zubkov (Chairman of the Board of PAO (Open Joint Stock Company) «Gazprom»), Fatma Samoura (General Secretary of FIFA), Philippe Le Floc'h (General Commercial Director of FIFA), Julio Baptista (famous Brazilian soccer player), Ivan Zamorano (Chilean attacker), Aleksandr Kerzhakov (Russian soccer player) and other guests who called for the promotion of the most important human values ​​among the younger generation.

In 2017 the project united over 600 thousand people. Over 1000 children and adults from 64 countries around the world attended the final events in Saint Petersburg.

Football for friendship 2018

In 2018, the sixth season of the Football for Friendship project took place from February 15 to June 15. Final events took place in Moscow ahead of the FIFA 2018 World Cup. Participants in the program were young football players and journalists representing 211 countries and regions around the world. The official starting signal was given to the program in 2018 with the public drawing of the Football for Friendship project live; According to the results, 32 football teams were formed - international selection teams of friendship.

In 2018, international selection teams of friendship were named as part of the ecological mission in honor of rare and disappearing animal species. The international Happy Buzz Day campaign was also started on May 30th as part of the ecological mission in 2018, which calls on the global community to support organizations for the rescue of rare animal species. National parks and nature reserves in Russia, the USA, Nepal and Great Britain have joined the campaign.

During the final events in Moscow, participants in the Football for Friendship project were also transported with environmentally friendly buses that run on natural gas fuel.

In 2018, 32 international friendship teams took part in the Football for Friendship World Cup. For the first time in the history of the project, the final game was commentated by the young commentator from Syria Jasn Tacha, and the game was directed by the young referee from Russia Bogdan Batalin.

The winner of the Football for Friendship World Cup 2018 was the “Chimpanzee” team, which included young football players from Dominika, Saint-Kitts and Nevis, Malavi, Colombia, Benin and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The selection team was trained by the boy participant from Saransk Vladislav Polyakov.

The final event of the sixth season of the program was the international children's forum, Football for Friendship, which took place on June 13 at the “Moskvarium” Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology. It was presented by Viktor Zubkov (Chairman of the Board of Directors of PAO (Public Joint Stock Company) "Gazprom"), Olga Golodez (Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation), Iker Casillas (Spanish football player, ex-captain of the national team), Aleksandr Kershakov (Russian football player , Coach of the national soccer team of Russia among young people), as well as by representatives of 54 embassies worldwide and other guests.

During the forum, the best young football players of the sixth season were rewarded: Deo Kalenga Mwense from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (the best striker), Jamiru Ouru from Benin (the best runner), Iwan Wolynkin from Wales (the best goalkeeper) and Gustawo Sintra Rocha from Brazil (MVP).

Scheikali Asension from Aruba was named the best young journalist for the Football for Friendship project in 2018. The girl runs a blog where she calls the youth of Oceania to ecological awareness.

During the forum there was a presentation of the book and an autograph session by the participant from the previous season from India Ananja Kambodsh. After completing the fifth season of the Football for Friendship project in 2017, Ananya wrote the book “My journey from Mohali to St. Petersburg” about her experience of participating as a young journalist. There she shared about Nine Values ​​in the program that will help make the world a better place.

On June 14th, after the conclusion of the International Children's Forum Football for Friendship, young football players and journalists attended the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. At the “Lushniki” stage, the children ceremoniously raised flags from all 211 countries and regions that took part in the program this year. Afterwards, young participants in the Football for Friendship project watched the opening match between the national teams of Russia and Saudi Arabia.

More than 1,500 children and young people from 211 countries and regions took part in the final events in Moscow. In total, more than 180 events were organized during the sixth season in different regions of the world, in which more than 240 thousand young people took part. The Football for Friendship project has traditionally been supported by FIFA.

Football for friendship 2019

In 2019, key actions of the seventh season of the Football for Friendship project will be carried out in Madrid from May 28th to June 2nd. Traditionally, the formation of mixed teams, international selection teams of friendship, is determined during the public draw. As in 2018, the selection teams were named as part of the program's ecological initiative to honor rare and disappearing animal species.

The international forum Football for Friendship will again be one of the main events of the seventh season. In 2019 the forum will be a platform for constructive dialogue and exchange of experiences between football players, politicians and representatives of social and sporting organizations. The work of the forum is the issues of the development of football of children and young people worldwide.

International street football tournament

The international street football tournament has been part of the project since 2014. The first tournament featured 16 teams from 16 countries, including the Chelsea Foundation and a mixed team of girls and boys from the Netherlands, the Double Dutchies.

International Children's Press Center

In 2014 the International Children's Press Center was established as part of the Football for Friendship project. 16 young journalists aged between 12 and 14 from 16 countries were accredited, each of which emerged as the winner of their national competition for young reporters. The winners traveled to the second “Football for Friendship” forum as reporters and also attended the final of the UEFA Champions League .

In 2015, 12 year old James Lewis from Great Missenden represented the UK at the International Children's Press Center. He was one of 24 young reporters who were allowed to report on the third children's forum and national events as part of the project.

Nine values ​​of the Football for Friendship project

During the first International Forum for Children, which took place on May 25, 2013, Young Ambassadors from Great Britain, Germany, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Russia formed the first eight values ​​of the program - friendship, equality, justice, Health, peace, attachment, victory and traditions - and these values ​​are presented in open writing. The letter was sent to the heads of international sporting organizations: the International Football Association (FIFA), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the International Olympic Committee. In September 2013, during the meeting with Vladimir Putin and Vitaliy Mutko, Joseph Blatter confirmed that he had received the letter and declared that he was ready to support the Football for Friendship project.

In 2015, participants from China, Japan and Kazakhstan joined the Football for Friendship project and proposed adding the ninth value - honor.

International Day of Football and Friendship

International Football and Friendship Day will be celebrated as part of the project on April 25th in all participating countries. It was celebrated for the first time in 2014. On this day, friendly matches will be held to remember the values ​​of the FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDSHIP project.

Friendship bracelet

On the day of football and friendship, all events begin with friendship bracelets being exchanged as symbols of tolerance, equality and a healthy lifestyle. The bracelets consist of a green and a blue ribbon. The color green stands for the soccer field, blue for the sky.

Activities out of season

The football players involved in Football for Friendship also take part in various events outside of the season. The team Maribor from Slovenia z. B. hosted a charity friendly match in Cambodia. In June 2014, French President François Hollande invited the Taverny soccer team, who had represented France in the Football for Friendship project, to the Elysée Palace to watch the World Cup match between France and Nigeria.
