The European Atomic Forum ( English European Atomic Forum ), short FORATOM , is the trade association of the European Atomic Energy -Wirtschaft. The association conducts nuclear- political lobbying and advertising for the interests of member companies at EU level . In addition, the forum provides general information and public relations work for the use of nuclear energy.

The association was founded in 1960, was initially based in Paris , moved to London in 1975 and finally to Brussels in 1990. Here FORATOM has its offices in the same building as the European Nuclear Society (European Nuclear Society), with the content also is close cooperation.

FORATOM has had close relationships with the International Atomic Energy Agency for decades . This cooperation was further intensified in an agreement in March 2012.

Members

The members come from 18 national associations of European countries. In total, the association represents around 800 companies, mostly operators, suppliers or service providers of nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities.

The largest members include EdF and Areva from France, BNFL and British Energy from Great Britain, RWE , E.ON and EnBW from Germany, Endesa and Enusa from Spain, as well as Vattenfall , Axpo , Electrabel , Urenco , ČEZ , TVO , Nuclearelectrica , Slovenske elektrárne and many others.
