The Forbes Bluff is a prominent cliff on the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It rises on Hoseason Beach as the northern end of a rock formation that extends from the Big Ben volcano between the Baudissin and Nares glaciers . The front of the cliff contains sediments of limestone .
The cliff is named after Alistair "Jock" Forbes, a carpenter in a campaign by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions to Heard Island in 1952, who died in an accident on Hoseason Beach and was buried on Heard.
