Martin Jankow Mintschew ( Bulgarian Мартин Янков Минчев ; born April 22, 2001 in Varna ) is a Bulgarian football player who is under contract with the Czech first division club Sparta Prague . The offensive player has been a Bulgarian international since March 2019 .

Career

Martin Mintschew, born in Varna , began his football training in 2008 at the age of seven at the local club Cherno More Varna . There he rose through the various age groups and at the end of the 2016/17 season he was promoted to the first team by head coach Georgi Ivanov . On April 23, 2017 (29th matchday), the only 16-year-old Mintschew made his debut in a 3-2 home win against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Bulgarian top division when he came on for Ivan Kokonow in the 76th minute of the game . In the remaining season he completed three more league appearances. In the summer of 2017, he trained with the U17 team of Turin FC on a trial basis , but was not signed. At Tscherno More he established himself as a rotation player in December 2017 of the following season 2017/18 . On March 30, 2018 (27th matchday), he scored his first league goal in a 2-1 home win against Pirin Blagoewgrad . During this season he played 20 league games in which he scored two goals.

In the next 2018/19 season , Minchev was a regular part of the starting line-up, holding the position of right winger . He played a total of 27 league games this season, in which he scored two goals and made eight assists. By July 2020, he made six goals in 23 league appearances in the 2019/20 season .

On July 1, 2020, Martin Mintschew moved to the Czech first division club Sparta Prague , where he signed a four-year contract.

National team

Martin Minchev played international matches for various Bulgarian junior national teams.

On March 22, 2019, he made his debut in a 1-1 draw in the qualifying match against Montenegro for the Bulgarian national team when he came on in the 82nd minute for Spas Delew .
