The Formidable was a ship of the line of the French Navy equipped with 80 cannons . The ship was launched in 1751 and Capt. St André. The ship had a crew of 800 men. The Formidable was only used in the battle of Quiberon Bay on November 20, 1759 to protect the port city from the British in the Seven Years' War . In this battle the French lost six ships, including the Formidable . The Formidable was captured by the HMS Resolution and put into British service. The ship of the line remained in the Royal Navy for several years and was finally scrapped by January 24, 1768.

Reception and trivia

The Formidable is also represented in Assassin's Creed Rogue , and is considered a "legendary ship" that also protected the Bay of Quiberon in the Seven Years' War, but goes down with losses.
