Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The cone-shaped grape is large (on average 800 grams) and loose berries. The elongated berries are large and purple-blue in color. The taste of the berries is neutral. Formosa is not seedless.
The variety ripens about 20 days after the Gutedel and is therefore still considered to ripen early. Formosa is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
