history
brewery
Since the founder Gottfried Jakob was dissatisfied after more than 25 years of work in the field of brewing technical control and its ramifications, he decided to set up a research brewery. In 1930 he founded the research brewery with the intention of researching new types of beer and brewing processes. He did so so well that he received more than 50 patents for his work. However, he came to the conclusion that the end product of his work cannot be evaluated by himself or a small group of brewing colleagues. So in 1936 he created the Bräustüberl with a lot of devotion as a "test center" in which every guest can rehearse in peace.
“The finished product must be received by the consumer, i. H. be judged by the beer drinker; his judgment alone is decisive. We only brew in order to create refreshment for everyone in the beer for physical and mental strengthening. "
The many first customers included owners and managing directors of other breweries, brewing colleagues and engineers who came to test Jakob's inventions. In 1950 the beer "research" in the brewery was stopped.
After Gottfried Jakob's death, Heinrich Jakob took over the business in 1958 and continued to run it. In 2003 Heinrich Jakob leased the business to his son Stefan Jakob. In October 2010, Stefan Jakob announced that he would terminate the lease at the end of the year. From August 12th to 15th, 2011, the research brewery reopened under a new owner.
The developed equipment is still available in the brewery today. The beer is still made by hand ( grinding , filling , labeling ).
Bräustüberl
For the furnishing of the Bräustüberl, Gottfried Jakob commissioned the painter W. Erlacher, who illustrated the fairy tales Das Schlaraffenland and Tisch deck dich, donkeys and clubs from the sack on wood as frescoes . Almost all of the pictures have been preserved. The original logo of the research brewery has also been preserved. It still adorns the entrance with its owl as a landmark.
The Bräustüberl was opened in 1936 and expanded several times in the following years. It offers space for up to 250 people, in summer the adjoining garden is also open, which offers space for additional guests. The first official customer of the Bräustüberl was Dr. Knauer, who has been getting the beer from the research brewery since brewing began.
Due to the size, the rooms are made available for birthday or company celebrations as well as farewell parties.
The Bräustüberl has been open all year round since 2011.
On January 1, 2016, the Bräustüberl was leased to the Achhammer family.
