Fort Crown Point
Fort Crown Point is a Fort , which by the British in 1759 on Lake Champlain on the border between Vermont and New York was built. The fort was built under the command of Jeffrey Amherst .
After the French and Indian War , only a small British garrison was left in the fort. This enabled the Americans to simply capture the fort in the American Revolutionary War . The Battle of the Fort (Battle of Crown Point) took place outside the fort - the fort has never been directly attacked since its construction.
In October 1968, Fort Crown Point was recognized as a National Historic Landmark . The following month it was entered on the National Register of Historic Places .
