Fortunatus Cavallo
Fortunatus Cavallo (* 1738 near Augsburg , † 1801 in Regensburg ), also Fortunat Ferdinand Cavallo , was a German conductor and composer.
Act
The church musician was a student of Joseph Riepel and worked mainly in the area around Regensburg , where he held the office of cathedral music director from 1769 to 1801 . His son Wenzeslaus Cavallo succeeded him as cathedral music director . Until 1994, Fortunatus Cavallo was the last cathedral conductor who did not belong to the clergy.
His work includes numerous masses, symphonies and chamber music and other works that Johann Georg Mettenleiter mentions without naming sources.
