  • the promotion of a nationwide educational offer for students,
  • the promotion of cooperation between university communities, funding agencies and universal church institutions,
  • imparting knowledge about the development of university pastoral care,
  • imparting knowledge about developments in universities and educational policy,
  • the promotion of interdisciplinary dialogues.

At the federal level, the forum is the point of contact for institutions of higher education, education and science policy and, as a specialist organization, wants to participate in the discourse on the future of universities.

activities

The Forum Hochschule und Kirche eV supports the nationwide organizations belonging to it in their work on a subsidiary basis and, as the project sponsor, provides financial support for qualification measures and educational offers with church and public funds.

Together with the Conference for Catholic University Pastoral Care (KHP), the professional representation of all those active in university pastoral care, the forum develops, organizes and evaluates the introductory course for university pastoral care and further training measures for full-time employees in university pastoral care and provides offers of spiritual accompaniment.

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Katholischer Hochschulgemeinden (AKH) is supported by the forum's office in the development, implementation and evaluation of nationwide seminars for students and volunteers.

The forum provides information about the university and university pastoral care, gives impulses for their development and promotes the exchange of information between the university communities and other organizations involved in Catholic university work.

In the core areas of university pastoral work (education, encounter, dialogue, advice, support, spirituality), the forum is open to cooperation projects with interested organizations and institutions.

organization structure

The Forum University and Church is constituted as a registered association, to which delegates from the nationwide organizations of Catholic university work belong. The resolutions of the board and the general assembly are implemented by the office of the Forum Hochschule und Kirche eV in Bonn. The Forum Hochschule und Kirche eV is supported in its work by a Scientific Advisory Board, the members of which are appointed by Commission VIII for questions of science and culture of the German Bishops' Conference. Auxiliary Bishop Wilfried Theising is the chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board. The Scientific Advisory Board advises the forum and provides impulses for the further development of university pastoral care.
