The Forum Mobilkommunikation (FMK) is the voluntary representation of the interests of the Austrian mobile communications industry in the network of the Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (FEEI) . As a specialist organization of the Austrian Economic Chamber, the FEEI represents the interests of the Austrian electrical and electronics industry.
Founding history
The forum emerged from the FEEI's “Public Mobile Services” working group. In autumn 1996, the FMK was formally founded with the founding members max.mobil , mobilkom austria , Alcatel , Ericsson , Nokia , Siemens and Motorola . The FMK has been an Austrian information platform since January 1997. Marcus Grausam has been FMK President since 2015. Margit Kropik has been the managing director since April 2012.
activities
On the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology and in cooperation with Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH , the FMK launched the transmitter cadastre in 2003.
Through various initiatives, the association communicates to young people, teachers and parents how to use mobile communications responsibly. The basis for this is the Handy-Kinder-Kodex, a voluntary commitment of the cell phone operators to protect children from content on cell phones that could endanger development. For example, the FMK makes teaching materials available to educators on the lehrer.at/handy homepage. These are intended to enable a critical examination of the various aspects of mobile communications as well as a conscious questioning of one's own usage behavior.
Health issues such as the influence of electromagnetic fields are also addressed by the FMK. One of the tasks of the Mobile Communication Forum is therefore the observation and evaluation of the research environment relating to mobile telephony, as well as the communication of the relevant results. For example, the SAR value of your own mobile phone can be queried via the FMK homepage .
In the mobile radio measurement series, measurements of the field strengths of mobile radio applications are carried out in public places. The results of the series of measurements are documented in writing by TÜV and published on the FMK homepage and the transmitter cadastre. This community service provides information on the subject of cellular communications and cell phone networks in the respective communities.
