Forum Region Stuttgart

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Forum Region Stuttgart was a non-partisan citizens' initiative that was founded in 1994 by the then IHK President Hans Peter Stihl and Günther H. Oettinger as a non-profit organization.

The members are made up of personalities from a wide variety of social areas.

The Forum Region Stuttgart saw itself as:

  • Independent dialogue platform for economically and socially relevant issues in the region
  • The aim of the work of the “Forum Region Stuttgart” was to initiate an exchange and understanding process for all those involved on key issues in the region and to cooperate with other regional institutions.
  • In the case of controversially discussed issues in particular, it was important to initiate dialogues in which the interests behind the positions are worked out, understood and mutually recognized.
  • Behind this claim was the conviction that - especially if there are many different interests - stable solutions require well-managed communication processes.
  • The forum took up selected topics that served the current and future further development of the region.
  • The forum was one of the promoters and sponsors u. a. in the planning and implementation of the new trade fair and the Stuttgart 21 rail project .

The forum was financed exclusively through donations and voluntary contributions.

In October 2015, the general assembly decided by a large majority to end the association's work.

In November 2016, the remaining funds were paid out to the “German-American Center, James F. Byrnes Institute” to support the activities of the international student exchange and the “Santa Claus Campaign” to promote integration measures for young refugees. The liquidation of the forum ended with the disbursement of the funds. The association was thus finally extinguished.

Hans Peter Stihl Prize

One of the most important measures of the forum was the awarding of the "Hans-Peter-Stihl-Preis", which was awarded until 2011 under the name "Regionaut".
