Hans-Jörg Bullinger (born April 13, 1944 in Stuttgart ) is a German ergonomist and former President of the Fraunhofer Society (2002–2012).

Life

Hans-Jörg Bullinger attended the Technical High School in Stuttgart from 1963 to 1966 , where he obtained his Abitur through a second educational path .

Bullinger studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and from 1971 worked as a research assistant at the local institute for industrial production and factory operations under Hans-Jürgen Warnecke , where he received his Dr.-Ing. doctorate and in 1978 habilitation . From 1975 to 1980 Bullinger headed the corporate planning department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA). In 1980 he became a professor for ergonomics / ergonomics at the Distance University in Hagen . In 1991 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Belgrade .

From 1981 to 2002 Bullinger headed the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization (IAO), which he co-founded , as well as the Institute for Industrial Engineering and Technology Management (IAT) at the University of Stuttgart . From 2002 to 2012 he was President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and from 2013 to 2018 Senator. He is also a member of the Scientific Board of the AutoUni of Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TÜV Süd .

Other activities

Bullinger is a member of the jury for " Top 100 ", an award for the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany, and a member of the board of trustees of the Arthur Burkhardt Foundation for the Promotion of Science.

Honors

Bullinger is a member of acatech , the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
