Heinz Keller (chemist)

Heinz Keller (born October 16, 1917 in Hanover ; † January 16, 2014 in Konstanz ) was a German chemist . He was the second full-time president of the Fraunhofer Society .

Life

Keller received his doctorate in 1950. As a member of the board of the United Deutsche Metallwerke AG , he moved to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich in 1974 and was its second full-time president until 1983. Keller implemented a comprehensive reform program during his tenure. At the end of his tenure, the number of employees at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft had doubled and the budget quadrupled - from 81 million marks in 1973 to 319 in 1983. Keller set new priorities such as microelectronics and solar technology .
