Forum for African Women Educationalists

The Forum for African Women Educationalists ( FAWE ) is a pan-African NGO . It was founded in 1992 by five ministers of education to promote the education of girls and women in sub-Saharan Africa by giving them access to schools and the possibility of completing their education. In this way, they should be able to use its powers as well as the movement of Education For All ( Education for All ) of UNESCO provides. The members of the organization include education ministers, vice-chancellors of universities, education decision-makers, researchers, gender specialists and human rights activists.

The secretariat is in Nairobi . There are currently 34 national chapters in 33 countries including Benin , Gabon , Gambia , Ghana , Guinea , Liberia , Nigeria , Rwanda , Senegal , Sierra Leone , Uganda , Togo and others.

It is an international partner of the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program and a partner organization of the Association of African Women for Research and Development .
